Itinerary:
Embark on an adventure through the spectacular Sani Pass, located at the border between South Africa and Lesotho.
Your journey begins early with a drive from your hotel in Durban to the base of the pass. At 08:30, board a 4x4 vehicle for an exhilarating ascent, crossing rugged roads before reaching the summit at 2,874 meters in stunning Lesotho. The pass ranks as one of the top birding spots in southern Africa and is a prime venue for high altitude alpine birding with some 160 species being recorded. This 6-hour 4x4 journey offers breathtaking views as you explore incredible landscapes on both sides of the border. As you travel skywards the tour progresses through various altitudinal vegetation zones, revealing the history of the pass, geology of the mountains, stunning flora and fauna and concludes with a light lunch at the highest pub in Africa, the Sani Top Chalet.
From 13:00 to 15:00, take a scenic drive back down Sani Pass, soaking in the stunning views once more. Finally, return to Durban, concluding a memorable day of adventure.
