Our Solar Energy Commitment

‌‌At African Eagle Day Tours, sustainability goes beyond the vehicles we use. For more than 15 years, we have invested in solar energy to power our operations and support a cleaner, more responsible way of traveling in Cape Town.

Our solar installation helps reduce our environmental impact while supporting the energy needs of our electric fleet and facilities. By producing our own renewable energy, we are able to offer tours that are not only memorable but also more sustainable.

Our Solar Energy in Numbers :

  • 15 years using solar energy
  • Around 0.5 megawatts of solar power produced daily
  • Approximately 150 MWh of energy generated per year
  • More than 50% of our energy returned to the city grid

Our Solar Power System

Our solar installation uses advanced technology, including Fronius inverter systems, which efficiently convert solar power into usable electricity. This system allows us to produce a significant amount of renewable energy every day.

On average, our solar panels generate around half a megawatt of energy daily. More than half of this energy is sent back to the Cape Town electricity grid, helping support the city with clean, renewable power.

The rest of the energy is used directly at our headquarters, particularly to charge our electric vehicles and support our daily operations.

Supporting Our Electric Tours

This solar energy plays an important role in powering our sustainable transport solutions. Our charging infrastructure for electric cars and e-bikes relies on this renewable energy, helping us operate tours with a lower environmental footprint.

By combining solar energy with electric mobility, we are able to offer guests a more responsible way to explore the Cape while maintaining the same comfort and quality experience.

Looking Ahead

Our commitment to sustainability continues to grow. We are currently working on plans to expand our solar installation, with the goal of doubling our solar energy production in the coming year. This will allow us to further strengthen our clean energy use and continue developing more sustainable tourism experiences.
