Itinerary :
Your day begins with pickup at the V&A Waterfront at 09:00. From there, you’ll head to Robben Island for a guided tour led by a former political prisoner. Explore Nelson Mandela’s former cell and the lime quarry where prisoners were forced into hard labor, gaining insight into South Africa’s struggle for freedom.
Next, return to the mainland and visit Zeitz MOCAA, the Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. Housed in a striking converted grain silo, the museum showcases an impressive collection of 21st-century African art across nine floors. Take your time to admire the building’s architecture and the work of acclaimed artists such as Mary Sibande, Frances Goodman, Kendell Geers, William Kentridge, and Nicholas Hobo.
Afterwards, continue to the South African Museum, the country’s oldest museum, set in the scenic Company Gardens. Discover pre-colonial and colonial artefacts, San rock art, and maritime history exhibits. Highlights include the Lydenburg Heads, whale skeletons, and fossil displays, with an optional visit to the planetarium. You will also visit the District Six Museum to learn about the area’s rich cultural heritage and the impact of apartheid on local communities.
The tour concludes with return to your hotel at approximately 18:00, after a full day exploring Cape Town’s history, art, and culture.
