‌Traveling from Cape Town towards the interior of South Africa, the Huguenot Tunnel provides a faster and safer route by avoiding the steep and winding mountainous pass. Stretching 4 km, this tunnel is a vital connection on the N1 highway, though vehicles carrying hazardous materials are not permitted to use it.

‌Continuing along the journey, travelers pass through Worcester, the largest city in the Breede River Valley, located 120 km from Cape Town. This historic town is well known for its wine production, contributing to the rich viticultural heritage of the Western Cape.

‌Beyond the tunnel, the road leads into the stunning Hex River Valley, a region renowned for its breathtaking mountain views. The route winds through vineyards and one of the country’s most famous wine-producing areas.
